Things to consider: Is it the meaning or the image itself that holds its power?
"What does your symbol mean?"
"How will your pendant hang?"
"How can you use the Plexiglas in a unique way?" (How will you incorporate it into your design?)

Essential Questions:
"What is the purpose of art today and in the past?"
"Why have certain symbols persisted throughout history?"
"What is the purpose of using symbols in jewelry today?"

Steps, Tools, and Criteria:
- Start with paper to allow for a free flow of ideas.
- Draw out sketches of your symbol (Think about the positive and negative space)
- Consider how the symbol will be viewed with the Plexiglas as well as the use of cold connections.
- Keep in mind the added use of color when viewing the symbols.
- Glue your copy to the metal using rubber cement. (Be very careful to lay your design on straight)
- Use a center punch to dimple the metal then use the drill press.
- Drill a hole through the metal where you will start sawing from.
- Drill and cut interior shapes (drop out) first If your design has cuts not attached to the edge of the metal you will cut these first.
- Use a saw to cut your interior design before moving to the shape of the pendant
- Remember to consider tab length so you don't cover your symbols
- Carefully fold any tabs (How will the pendant hang from the chain?)
- File and sand the outer edges as well as the inside cuts.
