This ring primarily involves shaping the metal through a REDUCTIVE PROCESS. That means you will remove material through filing and sawing (once it’s gone it’s gone!). Other techniques may involve FORGING (heating the metal than shaping it by striking it repeatedly with metal hammers against the anvil) or DRILLING or GRINDING using burrs and bits on the flex shaft. The goal of this project is to reshape the metal blank (Cylinder or Cube) into a totem. The totem can resemble an animal, human form, plant, or be entirely abstract.
